RK3588S, eight cores on an 8nm LP process

Four Cortex-A76 cores at 2.4GHz alongside four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz, in a big.LITTLE arrangement on an 8nm low-power process. It is faster and draws less than the generation before it, which is what makes it viable as an always-on board.

6 TOPS of NPU with mixed precision

The built-in AI accelerator reaches 6 TOPS and supports INT4, INT8 and INT16 in mixed operation, so a quantised model can trade precision for throughput where the workload allows it.

Up to 256GB of onboard eMMC

This is what separates the 5B from the plain Orange Pi 5: eMMC is soldered on rather than sitting in a socket, in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB or 256GB. No card to work loose, and far steadier than microSD under long-running writes.

Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 with BLE

A 2.4G/5G dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 module is onboard, Wi-Fi over PCIe and Bluetooth over PCM and UART. No USB dongle taking up a port, and a steadier signal than the add-on modules it replaces.

8K video codec and multi-screen output

HDMI 2.1 carries up to 8K@60Hz, DisplayPort 1.4 over USB-C reaches 8K@30Hz, and two MIPI D-PHY TX 4-lane outputs run up to 4K@60Hz — enough for a multi-screen wall. Three MIPI camera inputs go the other way.

Rich interfaces, easy to expand

MIPI D-PHY and MIPI CSI, USB 3.1 and USB 2.0, Type-C, HDMI 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, a 26-pin header for UART, PWM, I2C, SPI, CAN and GPIO, and a 3-pin debug serial port.

About the board

Orange Pi 5B is built on the Rockchip RK3588S, an 8-core 64-bit SoC on an 8nm LP process, with four Cortex-A76 cores at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz, an Arm Mali-G610 MP4 GPU and a 6 TOPS NPU supporting INT4, INT8 and INT16 mixed operation.

The board carries 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR4/4X and soldered eMMC from 32GB up to 256GB, plus a MicroSD slot. Connectivity is HDMI 2.1 to 8K@60Hz, DisplayPort 1.4 over Type-C, dual MIPI D-PHY TX outputs, three MIPI camera inputs, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.1 and USB 2.0, and an onboard Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.3 module.

It runs Orange Pi OS in both Droid and Arch builds, Debian 11, Ubuntu 22.04 and 20.04, and Android 12. We hold it in local stock in Pakistan with warranty and setup support.
